Australian Air Force Cadets’ 75th Anniversary

DSCF0477B   Our friends in today's Australian Air Force Cadets are also celebrating their 75th anniversary in 2016. Like ourselves the RAAF Air Training Corps was formed in February 1941. Their brief history shows a remarkably similar story, not only of their World War II originals but also of their subsequent adaptation to the changing needs of peacetime society and of successive generations of young people. Short history:   http://www.aafc.org.au/who-we-are/history/ Distinguishing features have been a temporary, politically inspired, disbandment in 1975-76 but reformed (as the AIRTC), the inclusion of girls from 1982, movement towards a national training organisation in the 1990s, and enhanced tri-service funding with a new name and profile as the Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC) to start the new millennium.
