Flying Visit from Carol Vorderman

from a news release by Sqn Ldr Laura Bushell Hawke, Media Communications Officer, Plymouth and Cornwall Wing Honorary Group Captain Carol Vorderman, Ambassador for the RAF Air Cadets has paid a flying visit to RAF St Mawgan. She flew down from Colerne Airfield with Squadron Leader Baz Ervine. Commanding Officer of Bristol University Air Squadron, himself a former Air Cadet at 2349 Ballymena Squadron. RHQSW#CVord@PCW20150817~2of3#LBH17Aug15 They were visiting no 3 Air Experience Flight (AEF) detached to RAF St Mawgan where the AEF is flying South West Air Cadets in the Grob Tutor. The detachment has been run for twenty years by local pilot, Flight Lieutenant Alan Quartly and so far this year 289 Air Cadets have been flown, experiencing aerobatics and handling the controls of the aircraft. Hon Gp Capt Vorderman met Air Cadets being briefed prior to their flights and after lunch meet adult and cadet volunteers on their annual camp preparing for their laser tag practice. Hon Gp Capt Vorderman said: "It's a beautiful day in Cornwall, the Air Cadets and staff are obviously happy to be here. The Air Cadets are very, very excited and perhaps some are a bit nervous about their first flights, but I understand that!" After enjoying a traditional Cornish cream tea with the staff of Plymouth and Cornwall Wing Headquarters, Hon Gp Capt Vorderman departed for Colerne in the Grob Tutor.
