In the footsteps of Heros

From a press release by Flight Lieutenant Nigel Furlong, OC 2210 Cowley Squadron ATC TVW1409#Arnhem~IMG2344#NigelFurlong13Sep14 Cadets and staff from 2210 Cowley Squadron, Oxford, have been to Arnhem in the Netherlands to pay their respects to those who fought at the battle of Arnhem in September 1944. Their visit included a tour of the battlefield and a visit to the Airborne Museum in Oosterbek before paying their respects at the Commonwealth War Cemetary. The following day they took part in either the 15km and 10km routes of the annual Airborne Memorial March, both groups being the first Air Cadet teams to finish for their respective routes, and the 15km team being the first British contingient to return. A fantastic experience for our cadets who were superb ambassadors for Oxford's youth and 2210 Cowley Squadron. Nigel Furlong who led the group said: "As Cowley Squadron's commanding officer it is a privildege to work with such awesome young people. On this visit I was able to see them at their very best, whether paying respects at Oosterbek's war cemetary or striving hard on the route march." ENDS 2210 Cowley Squadron based in Sandy Lane West, Blackbird Leys, Oxford, is one the three Air Cadet units in the area.  It is open to new cadets all year round and meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings.  To arrange a visit or for more information, call: 01865 777055, email:, or visit our website at:
